The
APPLIED THERMAL DESIGNS
Thermal Desorber offers the following advantages:
-
Unique construction with proprietary internals,
process seals, and air polution control
system
allows manufacturing cost to be drastically
reduced.
-
The typical direct fired rotary kiln or
fixed
hearth incinerator uses large quantities
of high density hard refractory.
The PTI thermal extractor requires none,
resulting in tremendous weight and
cost savings.
- Due to modular construction and trailer mounting
site preparation can be a simple as leveling
the required area.
- Very low utilities consumption
- During normal operation with typical plant
waste, excess heat will be generated by
the
Thermal Oxidizer. Depending on process
requirements,
some or all of this heat is ducted through
the plenum of the thermal desorber to heat
the incoming feed. Therefore, the Thermal
Oxidizer burner will normally consume no
fuel. The normal utility requirements will
consist of only the power required to drive
the fans, kiln drive, and loader drive.
- Less than 4 hour start-up and 2 hour shut-downs
- The ceramic fiber refractory used in both
the kiln firebox and the thermal oxidizer
is insensitive to thermal shock. The typical
direct fired rotary kiln requires two or
three days to reach operating temperature
- Wet or dry low maintenance ash removal system
- The Pressnall Technology AWS wet ash removal
system uses water to provide a positive
seal
for the solids
discharge chute of the kiln. It has no bearings
or articulated joints submerged the
liquid.
Therefore, wear and the
resulting maintenance are greatly reduced.
- The Pressnall Technology ADS dry ash removal
system relies on the material being conveyed
to seal the solids discharge chute of the
kiln. The bearings are externally mounted
and protected from the heat. Both water
cooled
and air cooled versions are available,
depending
on the specific requirements of the process.
- Low maintenance high efficiency scrubbing
system
- By cleaning the gas after it exits the Thermal
Desorber and before it enters the Thermal
Oxidizer, a much smaller volume of gas
requires
treatment. This results a much smaller
scrubber,
reducing the capital and operating costs.
The Thermal Oxidizer burns only cleaned
gases
therefore its exhaust is clean. In addition,
the Pressnall Technology scrubber system
uses less power
- When treating oil contaminated soil, the
heavy ends of the oil are recovered
in the
scrubber. These have value as
fuel or chemical feedstock.
